Near my home, in Seattle, is the wonderful Pike Place Public Market, filled with fresh fruit, flowers and fish from local farmers and fishermen. It first opened its doors for business in August of 1907, and is one of the oldest public markets in the USA. It sits on a hill and overlooks Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. It is a "must" see if you have never been to Seattle, or one to revisit if you have. Thank you for stopping by, be sure to see all of the others "hunters" here!
This past week I saw a film that I won't soon forget. I have been telling everyone I can, to be sure and see this film. You owe it to your self to see this film. It is titled"Cave of Forgotten Dreams" I have included a trailer here to show you just a glimpse of this unforgettable film. In 1995 these caves were discovered, and inside they found drawings on the walls that now have been carbon dated back 32,000 years!!! Can you imagine? Even just the beauty of the cave itself is worth seeing. Werner Herzog is the man who made this film, and was only allowed 1 hour at a time, to enter the cave, with 3 other men. They had to use only lights that did not omit any heat. He wanted to film in 3-D (even though he hates 3-D) because he wanted the viewer to see the full depth of the cave and the drawings as they were really drawn. They could not touch the walls, floors(except for the walkway) or ceiling, so the normal 3-D camera would be too big, so he made his own, and put it together, once inside the cave. He was able to go into the cave for 1 hour twice and once for 4 hours, that was it. These caves will never be open to the public, as they found out from past experience, the breathing of many people in another cave caused a horrible mold to cover the inside of the cave. This cave now has a steel locked door to protect it. If you have seen this film, I would love to hear what you thought . I am going tomorrow to see it again. There is just so much to take in, all in one setting!
This weeks theme is "looking down." The photo above is taken high up in the campanile(bell tower) in San Marco Square, looking out over the city, in Venice,Italy This photo was taken looking way down to the Mediterranean from high up on a hill in the little town of Ravello. You can see the very narrow winding road we traveled in a very large bus to get to the top! It was quite a ride!! This is looking down from our hotel"Albergo del Senato" to the Piazza della Rotunda and the columns of the Pantheon. As always, click on any photo to enlarge. to see all the other photo hunters, click here. Thanks for stopping by!
This weeks theme is "square." My choice is San Marco Square, in Venice, Italy. To see more "square" photos, click here. Happy weekend everyone.(I will be away from my computer until Sunday, but will try to visit as many as I can at that time! )
This weeks theme is "Trees". These dramatic trees, are on the driveway, into Wormsloe Plantation, in Savannah, Ga. This is one of my favorite photos, taken of a tree. (click photos to enlarge) To see more great photos, be sure to check here, Happy weekend everyone!
My family and friends are most important to me. I need their love, hugs, and to see their smiles, warms my heart completely. Reading a good book transports me to another time and place. Music, ah.. music, it surrounds me most of the time. It can bring me up, or relax me to a more gentle space. Movies, love them, especially foreign and independent ones. Quotations, so often inspire me,and sometimes, bring a tear to my eye. My photography tells a story of where I have been, and my vivid imagination paints me many pictures of where I want to travel next, as I enjoy a cup of cappuccino!
